Breast biopsy is an important adjunct to imaging of the breast. At Personal Health Imaging, vacuum assisted core breast biopsy is performed using either ultrasound or MRI. A core of breast tissue is taken and sent to a pathologist for review. This procedure is often done to identify the biological makeup of a lump or other irregularity in the breast. This procedure is minimally invasive and can help identify disease in its earliest stages. The samples taken are very small and local anesthetic is administered.
